Privacy Policy — Dream Journal

Last updated: 2026-05-08

This privacy policy describes how Dream Journal (“the App”, “we”, “our”) handles your information. The short version: your dream content stays on your device by default. We do not collect personal information.

1. Data we DO NOT collect

We do not collect or transmit:

Your dream entries are stored locally on your device using SQLite (the platform’s standard local database). They do not leave your device unless you explicitly choose to export them.

2. Data we DO collect (and how to turn it off)

2.1 Anonymous usage analytics (default: ON, opt-out available)

To understand which features are useful and to fix bugs faster, the App collects anonymous, aggregated usage statistics via Firebase Analytics. Specifically:

We do not include your dream content in any analytics event.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share usage data. When the toggle is off, no analytics or crash reports are sent.

2.2 Crash reports (default: ON, opt-out available)

If the App crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends an automated bug report so we can fix it. Crash reports include:

Crash reports do not include your dream content. The same opt-out toggle as analytics also disables crash reporting.

2.3 Speech recognition (when you tap the microphone)

Voice input uses your device’s built-in speech recognition. On iOS this means Apple’s on-device or server-side speech API; on Android, Google’s. The audio may briefly leave your device for transcription depending on your OS settings. We never see this audio or the resulting text — it goes directly from the OS to the App’s text field.

Refer to your OS provider’s privacy policy for their handling:

3. Pro features (when launched)

The free version of the App does not transmit any of your content to any server.

When AI symbolic interpretation (a paid Pro feature) is enabled and you choose to analyze a specific dream:

You opt in per-dream — no automatic transmission.

4. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

5. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data, there is generally nothing to delete from our systems. If you wish to remove anonymous usage data tied to your install ID:

For EU/UK users, you have rights under GDPR / UK GDPR (access, deletion, portability). To exercise them or ask any privacy question, contact us:

moff.app.technologies@gmail.com

6. Changes

If we change this policy, the “Last updated” date above will change and the new version will appear on this page before any new data practices begin.
